In 2019, the Class Years of '69, '74, '79, '84, '89, '94, '99, '04, and '09 may be scheduling either mini-reunions or more formal events. We had a record 30+ class years represented by Marina alumni at the 2018 Marina Beach Party. If these class years plan on holding their individual class reunions within the Beach Party as either their main reunion event or as a portion of their weekend reunion event, please let us know so that we may coordinate and market the events together.

PARKING INFORMATION: There is free parking north of Jack in the Box in Sunset Beach, and paid gated parking for $7.50 (disabled), $14 (senior), and $15 (general) in the adjacent lot several hundreds yards south. The earlier you arrive, the better the parking options will be on that same day.

********PLEASE HEED THIS ADVICE ON PARKING TO SAVE STRESS********

AFTER 12PM IT IS SUGGESTED THAT YOU SUMMON A RIDESHARE LIKE UBER OR LYFT FROM THE HUNTINGTON HARBOR MALL AREA AT ALGONQUIN/DAVENPORT........Highly recommended option for parking as the ride each way is about $5 and you can be dropped at the end of Warner.....you’ll only walk down the beach a few hundred yards to the party. 2017 guests remarked that this option was best overall eliminating sitting in gridlock traffic on PCH as they would rather spend their time partying than parking. THIS ALSO MAKES ATTENDING JUST AN HOUR OR TWO POSSIBLE...no full day commitment after investing 2 hours to park!!! lol

ALL ALCOHOL must be hidden from view, and people must drink at their own risk on the beach. Please do not bring or use any Red Solo type plastic cups. Alcoholic beverages are illegal on all California State Beach Property as has been the case for a few decades. It is a ticketable offense, and the HB Beach Patrol did check in recent years. There are restaurants, bars, and hotels within a short walking distance of the party location which may be alternative options.

Please do not drink and drive, regardless!!! Each guest is responsible for their own actions if they decide to attend this free public event.

*** Please let us know if you are bringing a motorhome or RV so that we may try to line them up adjacent to the Beach Party site. The length limit for a motorhome or RV is 40 feet. Parking fees for motorhomes and RVs may vary between $22.50 and $30 (disable, senior, or general parking fees).

All former Marina High Alumni, family, and friends are invited. Once you receive this invitation, you may then forward to other Marina friends and family. We also welcome current and former Marina High staff.

Many people will choose to bring food rather than purchase from nearby establishments. We encourage this since it’s a long day & good to have snacks at minimum. There are no public BBQ grills though you may bring your own. Please be aware Beach rules now say PROPANE grills “18 or more off the sand ONLY.

THE PARTY WILL BE POTLUCK FOR SIDE AND MAIN DISHES AND DESSERTS. This has become an annual tradition and while you’re not obligated to participate it has always been a fun highlight of the party.

Please bring a dish to share.....use your creativity or just stop at Costco or your local grocery deli...THE PARTY WILL PROVIDE PLATES, NAPKINS AND UTENSILS. Bring plastic serve-ware for your dish....label ANY dish-ware you’d like returned though we aren’t responsible for it and suggest using dollar store bowls & serving trays you don’t mind leaving behind.

SUGGESTIONS ARE: Finger foods & appetizers of all types. Slaws or potato & macaroni salads, pasta salads, green salads, fruit salads, pizza, cold fried or BBQ chicken, sandwiches, guacamole or salsa & chips, fruit and veggies, chips & dips, pretzels & snack mixes, nuts & dried fruits, crackers & cheese, cookies, donuts, pastries, cake, pie, brownies, and other treats.

WE HIGHLY SUGGEST BRINGING SHADE. Bringing a tent or pop up and sharing shade is a great way to make friends. We also suggest that guests consider bringing chairs, portable stereos, towels, natural sunblock, hats, and fun things for the kids. Please remember to bring WARM clothes and blankets if you plan to stay for our evening activities & possible bonfire since it may get cold when the sun goes down.
